Cited for taking part of a new generation of Latin music, Grupo Fantasma is an 11-piece Latin funk orchestra now in its 10th year. Recently heard on AMC’s critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad, the progressive group released their latest album El Existential in May after their 2008 Sonidos Gold gained a Grammy nomination for its innovative and funky sound. Their live shows are equally great and groovy.
Opening is Portland based group Y La Bamba who combine the traditional sounds of Luz Elena Mendoza’s Mexican heritage with modern folk music to create a hauntingly beautiful sound uniquely described as mariachi-inspired indie folk. Their charmingly catchy folk-themed debut album, Lupon, received a ton of buzz, and now you have a chance to catch the stunning vocals and brilliant song writing of Mendoza as they showcase music from their new album Court the Storm !
