Theater Group .BR, the first Brazilian NYC-based theater group, presents Nelson Rodrigues‘ final play, The Serpent. In this one-act play by the late, and iconic playwright of the 20th century, there are two couples who are caught in a psychological drama. The cast includes the group’s artistic director Andressa Furletti, the director Debora Baladini, choreographer Thiago Felix, producer Monica Steuer, and Remezcla fave Modesto Lacen, who learned Portuguese for the role.
In the play, the first couple, Décio and LÃgia, are on the verge of separation.  The husband Decio has been impotent throughout the whole relationship, and as a result, embarrasses and abuses his wife Ligia.  In contrast, the other couple–with whom Decio and Ligia share an apartment–are on an eternal honeymoon.
Married on the same day, in the same church with the same priest, the couples are bound together–to the extent, where one wife offers her husband up to her sister for a night.
