MCCLA is honored to announce that Dora Luz Sanabria will teach an 8-week workshop on the Mexican folk arts of making Cempazuchitl and papel picado. The Cempazuchitl flower, also known as flor de muertos (”flower of the dead”) in Mexico, is traditionally used for Dia De Los Muertos because of its vibrant color and aroma. Students will learn how to make the flowers and create their own original festive papel picados, which are a sure sign of the festivities of the season
